During our Christmas in Tasmania trip, a visit to Bruny Island was a must. Located just off the East Coast of Tasmania, the Island is home to about 620 residence is a 15-minute Vehicular Ferry Ride from Kettering, a 35-minute drive from Hobart.
We arrived at Roberts Point on the Island and drove South to Alonnah were we had booked a self-contained cabin for the next few days. The Island is made up of a North and South Island joined by a narrow stretch of land. Heading south our first stop was the Bruny Island Cheese Co.
After leaving the Bruny Island Cheese Co, we continued south to the Bruny Island Neck Reserve where we stopped and took a walk up to the lookout.
From the Top of the lookout, you can look across the neck which joins the North and South Island. From there you can see just how narrow this neck is.
Continuing south we head to the Bruny Hotel in Alonnah, which was only 35 km from where Ferry Terminal at Roberts Point, to check in a pick up our keys. Then off to our accommodation.
